The restoration process for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill offers an opportunity for large-scale restoration of resources that were affected. The Deepwater Horizon natural resource damage assessment and restoration activities are part of a large and comprehensive process that will take many years to complete.
The Texas Trustee Implementation Group is working to restore natural resources impacted by the spill. Using the framework described in the comprehensive restoration plan, we will develop and propose restoration plans. These plans will identify specific projects focused on restoring injured resources including habitats, water quality, living coastal and marine resources, and recreational opportunities. The public will be able to review and comment on the proposed restoration plans, as well as submit project ideas.
