The Open Ocean Trustee Implementation Group held an interactive webinar on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, to share information about four projects working to restore Mesophotic and Deep Benthic Communities (MDBC) injured by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of America. There were more than 140 people in attendance.

During the webinar, project managers and subject matter experts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Department of the Interior shared project accomplishments from the 2025 field season and their ongoing restoration plans for 2026. Additionally, they answered audience questions and provided information about how to access project data and reports.
