The Open Ocean Trustee Implementation Group has released its 2025 annual presentation, now available to the public on the Gulf Spill Restoration YouTube Channel. This year, the Trustees transitioned to a pre-recorded format, allowing the public to view the update at their convenience.
The presentation features multiple presenters and provides an overview of ongoing restoration efforts within the Open Ocean Restoration Area. Viewers will hear updates on current projects, restoration planning, and monitoring and adaptive management activities.
The presentation highlights:
- Collaborative restoration efforts to reduce bycatch of young sea turtles
- Projects that provide mapping tools to fishers to help restore oceanic fish
- Efforts with local partners that restore Common Loon nesting habitat
The recording will remain available and the link can also be accessed on the Open Ocean Restoration Area page on the Gulf Spill Restoration website.
Although no live question-and-answer session will be held this year, the Trustees welcome public input. Please submit any questions or comments about the presentation or ongoing restoration work to gulfspill.restoration@noaa.gov.
