Trustees to Hold Third Annual Meeting on July 19 in Mississippi

The Deepwater Horizon Natural Resources Damage Trustee Council will hold their 2018 annual public meeting on July 19 in Long Beach, Mississippi, near Gulfport. We will provide an update on our work since the historic settlement with BP, and describe restoration planning activities and opportunities for public engagement.

In April, the Alabama Trustee Implementation Group held its annual public meeting and presented its Draft Restoration Plan II and Environmental Assessment. The Louisiana Trustee Implementation Group has begun the process of drafting the second phase of planning for evaluation of construction of projects identified for engineering and design in the Louisiana Trustee Implementation Group Final Restoration Plan #1: Restoration of Wetlands, Coastal, and Nearshore Habitats; Habitat Projects on Federally Managed Lands; and Birds.

The Louisiana Trustee Implementation Group will hold its annual public meeting on June 26, 2018 at the Tulane River and Coastal Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mississippi’s New Gulf Coast Access and Education Exhibits Open at INFINITY Science Center

On May 16, 2018 the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s INFINITY Science Center opened the doors of its new indoor and outdoor exhibits supported by Natural Resource Damage Assessment funding approved by the Mississippi Trustee Implementation Group and administered through the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

Louisiana Trustees Release Additional funds for Projects in First Restoration Plan

The Louisiana Trustee Implementation Group approved the release of an additional $2,631,250 in funding for ridge and marsh creation activities covered under our first post-settlement restoration plan.
