The Deepwater Horizon Natural Resources Damage Trustee Council will hold their 2018 annual public meeting on July 19 in Long Beach, Mississippi, near Gulfport. We will provide an update on our work since the historic settlement with BP, and describe restoration planning activities and opportunities for public engagement.

Representatives of the seven Trustee Implementation Groups will also give updates on their progress over the last year. These groups are responsible for planning and implementing restoration projects for the natural resources injured by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  Over the last year, we’ve been busy planning and implementing restoration under the Natural Resources Damage Assessment process. We are interested hearing from you about what restoration under NRDA should look like and are looking forward to catching up with community members and stakeholders later in July.

This meeting will serve as the third annual public meeting for the DWH NRDA Trustee Council and Region-wide Trustee Implementation Group.

We will present our progress from last year, then there will be an opportunity for the public to provide comments to the Trustees.  We also encourage you to attend the open house before the public meeting, where staff will be available for conversations and questions.

Date July 19, 2017
Time

Open House – 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Meeting – 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.

In addition to the annual public meeting this year, we will hold a two-part education and outreach workshop on the evening of July 18 to help community members and organizations learn more about Deepwater Horizon restoration planning and how community members can get engaged. Information on the workshop is available here.

For those who cannot attend, we will post the meeting presentation and transcript on our website shortly after the meeting. Last year’s annual meeting information is available as well.
